My sis is officially in
track & field!
Congrats man! (: The coach was so impressed with her he actually went to look for her to ask her to put track as her first choice, & when she told him she might want to join badminton, he was like, "join track! I'll help you tell the badminton coach you'll change your mind ok?". And she's in! Wow!~
I have almost finished spending all my cny hong bao money. =,= On a new pair of shoes & my sis's birthday present. Obviously the shoes would be more expensive, but her present is not exactly the cheapest either. She has very weird taste, meaning I have to get a very weird present >.< And weird presents do cost a bit.
I watched The Fugitive last night. I still prefer Harrison Ford's AirForceOne. I watched it 4 times already, but yet it's still so nice & fresh. I could predict the ending for the Fugitive. lOl. It's so exciting how people change their identities just like that. I think I'm turning into a C.S.I freak, like my mum. =X She loves C.S.I., The Practice, Law & Order, & all those law shows. I think maybe it's cos it makes people think & strategize better, & mum
did study law for 1 year anyway. I think she dropped it after a year for some banking thing. =X
And my mum
did go for some
modelling course before. And she could get in, but I don't know what swayed her. I might have had a
model mum! Oh wow. =D
I'm getting freaked out by my parents. We went to Jack's Place last night, & dad was like, telling me which kind of guy to look out for, & he was even pointing out a few in the shopping mall who fit his description! -__-" He asked me to keep the guys I like in a "file" or data log, so next time I could take them out & "review" them. lOl. *faint* But he's pretty cool, & I much rather this than overly strict. Must learn to count my blessings! My mum is no better. She was just asking me to look at my cousin's photo album to choose which "look" i like best, then she asked my cousin (she's 18!) to intro. me to this guy that she thinks looks the best!! =O I was surprised and so shocked! ~
I
love my parents! =)

Yesterday's
cny celebrations was pretty funny. We had our lion dance first by some teachers, including my chem. teacher Dr. Slatter!! He's so cool, always giving us m&ms and Belgian chocs to munch on during class. (: And he used the m&ms to demonstrate the way particles in a solid moved! The way they vibrated was so
cute. Anyway, the NCC did great lion dance performance too! And the Chinese Drama play was funny. Enjoyable!~
There wasn't school today! So glad for that. At first I thought only SAP schools had "special" holidays, but it turns out rgs has it too! When Janelle told me I was like, shocked.
So anyway, tomorrow is chu1 yi1. Have fun everyone! (:

I'm finally done with
cny shopping! Whew. The crowd at Robinsons was
terrible. Like I was just telling Moni, I could hardly breathe in the crowd! I'm so glad it's over. It's becoming a chore, shopping for clothes, but it's worth it anyway..
This cny is a time to really
eat all those nice goodies, so this is what I want to say to those who insist on
dieting.
It's time to stop. Stop all the nonsense about getting
slimmer &
thinner. This is our time to grow grow grow! And when else can you
pig out but during Chinese New Year? Stop
short-changing yourself! We are still teens after all, we can basically afford to eat all that food, cos like my mum said, we're still growing & using up all those energy & calories for our P.E. or studying. Sometimes it's so
alarming the way peers start getting obssessed with their looks & weight. It's called puppy fat, & it'll go away! Just give yourself some time.. So to all those who are trying to lose weight the not-so-healthy way (by dieting), if you really must, go exercise. It'll do a
world more good than anything else.
Try focusing on
inner beauty instead man.. (I sound
so cliche >.<)
I've got a whole lot of cny homework to complete. It's starting to get really tiring, but since we're in upper sec, we got to make a little sacrifice. *cringe*
Anyway, I think I'll advertise for my friend here. (She asked for help.) Those who would like
great templates for their new/changed blogs can "hire" Alcina. She's a pro at that, & only charges a small fee for all the hard work. (Ranges from $4-6) Anyone interested, tell me.
Ok, I did it! Maybe I'll get some commission! (:

Today we finally finalize our
seating arrangements. I'm sitting with Ming Rue! =) When we found out, we were like "oh it's
so coincidental!" that kind of thing. And in front of me is Chay Ling & Petrina, next to me is Janelle (chairperson!), diagonally before us are Emerald (Vice. C) & Sherlyn (Eng. Rep.)! I couldn't ask for any better! School's only going to get more & more fun!
The homework has started coming in. So far my group has accomplished our Lit. project on the Age of Realism (YAY!!) & we have just started our proposal on Research Studies. Wow, talk about rush. When CNY comes I'll be so glad for the temporary break. My Social Studies evaluation of the SM article is almost complete! And thankfully my math is done. Will be able to sleep soon. Whew. Tomorrow is another long day, but no school on Wednesday! =] It's already getting better & better.
Glory to God! Amen.

It's after OBS- Outward Bound S'pore, or Others Before Self. The one person I
really miss is our instructor-
Jon. He rocks big time, & he's most probably the
best instructor there on the whole of Pulau Ubin. My watch -Marshall- was under him, & there never was a time he wasn't
super nice to us. Lincoln says maybe it's just cos we're girls, & he claims the R(I) guys before us had quite a hard time with him too. But I don't think so. He praised us whenever we did things or activities well & quick, & talked to us when we were late, but he never tried to make us do 100 sit-ups or anything. He was so nice. Marshall will most probably miss him the most, because it was he who taught us all the life lessons we learnt there, & because of the debriefs we actually learnt something about why & how we did those activities.
For Marshall, we went rockclimbing, kayaking, raft building, abseiling, trust fall etc. I enjoyed them, but I've tried everything before except kayaking, so I can't say I learnt many new activities. But what I can say is that I've learnt to
treasure all I've got- my family, home, cleanliness, books, internet, communication etc. There's so many life lessons you can learn in OBS, but only if you've got the right instructor. =)
Maybe some other time I'll have the time to record what I've did, but then it would be meaningless, because it's not what we did, it's what we achieved & learnt throughout the whole 5 day course. I've really learnt to treasure whatever I've got, especially the
people around me & what they've done. I've learnt that trust is crucial, because
if you can't trust, you can't love. I've learnt that hope is something eveyone has, but not everyone can act upon what they hope they have. And most importantly, I know that
success isn't in the arrival, it's in the journey, & that we have to open our hearts up, even if sometimes it lets in some pain. (That's from the story Jon shared with us.)
I'll always remember what I've learnt in OBS, & what I hope to do after that.
On the last day, Jon played a goodbye song for us. We lay down in a circle & listened to the song. I'm still desperately trying to find out the title, but till I do, this is a short part of what he told us.
".... It's been an
honour for me to have assisted you in your 5 day of self-realization & learning more about yourself & life..
Thank you, RGS girls." And the song goes. .
Cos we are gonna be.. Together, you and me. .

oh oh oh! I just found out that lots of History students are learning
Revolutions!!!!!! I
LOVE revolutions!! Especially
Russian & french revolutions! Karl Marx, Lenin, St. Petersburg, Petrograd, the rise of Communism, Tsar, Anastasia, Bastille, fall of the Iron Curtain.. I'm beginning to regret not taking history! They are learning all the stuff I've been borrowing from the library
for months! This is just terrible. Anyway, to all history students, all I can say is
enjoy your lessons.. You'll love it.
Sigh.

3:05 PM
I think I really love
late night swimming. Went yesterday at about 9pm, and I managed to break my own record! =) It
is a self-achievement. All this while I've been really trying to break it, & everytime I couldn't. Miserable really. Then, it happened last night! Yay!
The funny thing is that while I was swimming, there was this function going on right next to the pool. There were adults all dressed in evening wear, & there was some bbq-ed stuff. Somehow the smoke managed to blow around the pool, & it really is a funny feeling when you're swimming & suddenly you smell food. And I mean
good food, like crayfish or lobster or something.
Besides smelling food, I don't know how, but I was so busy thinking about physics & 'chanting' stuff in my head that I didn't realised I swam
non-stop. To the gold-* swimmers, they are most probably going "
Who can't swim non-stop?!" Well,
I couldn't. At first anyway. But that's besides the point.
What I really mean to say is it seems that taking your mind off something can actually help you work at it better. For example, my swim. I have been swimming almost fortnightly, & am embarrassed to say I
couldn't swim non-stop
for 1 hour, but I just did it last night. & I wasn't even concentrating! Honest. To be really truthful, I was thinking about the prefixes & scientific notation in physics. (I had a quiz that day you see.) It all has to do with pacing.
Last few times, I just swam really fast in the beginning, then by the 4th lap I was
about to die. But if you go slow at first, 'sprinting' toward the end comes naturally. I realised that. Wow, another life lesson learnt! =)
About my class.. I think I
couldn't ask for any better! Made
lots of new friends, & some of them are
so funny! And the
cutest thing is that it comes so naturally! They can tell a joke, then their friend would counter that comment with another even funnier one! It's like a really funny comedy show! It's so coincidental the way they know so much about the people back in Nanyang. They would frequently go, "hey do you know ____ from __?" Then I'll be like, "oh yea! You know her too??!". It's a small world.
We've already got our class chairperson, vice-chair, secretary & treasurer, and some other reps. Amazingly, I'm the class
treasurer. =o I couldn't have looked more shocked at the results.
Seriously speaking,
almost half the class doesn't even know me & my background blah blah blah,(me being so new..) so I am really
amazed at the results! Well, God never moves without purpose or plan, so I'll try my hand at it, & cross my fingers!
My form teacher is most probably the coolest form teacher in the world. She's totally an outdoor person, & she's good at so many things! And her passions made us all go "WOW..". Amazing! Class 310 may be the best class in the world! Hehe.
There have been
so many RP talks so far. I am constantly
amazed at the
detailed work of the Raffles Programme, & the fact that it is
fantastic work done by the staff of the Raffles family. It is so clear & precise, & the teachers know exactly what to do and from which approach to come from! The worksheets are not the least slip-shot, & everyone is pretty confident this will work out fine. So far I've been having pretty much work to do. I have this Lit project, and I'm doing on
The Age of Realism. Is that cool or what?
Anyway, ending with a birthday song, not telling who! "
Happy Birthday to _ _ !!" Hehe.

A
whole New Year! Yay! From now on, I take 105 to school instead of 66, & pass by Orchard everyday instead of ermm.. KAP Macs? I'll truly miss the old route, but I've got to adapt to changes, and I'd much rather be
happy than mournful everyday. From now on, I'll be wearing a uniform of a different colour, & seeing new people around, while never forgetting the old. Blissful.
I had a
very surprising surprise. I
couldn't imagine it at first, but now, thinking about it, I think I should have guessed. My sis is the
chairperson of her new class, & what's
funny is that
nobody knows her there. I can't & will not believe that she
looks like a monitress. I mean, who does? She went to a
brand new environment, & she's not even from the same primary school, & yet she's chairperson already. What is this world becoming. (Kidding!) =) Oh well, I hope she uses this opportunity to shine for the Lord!
I should probably write my New year resolutions here, so that whenever I want to blog, I can just read what I intend to do. But
most of the time I never accomplish most of what I hope to do. I mean, in primary 1 I wrote that my no. one new year resolution was
to fly. I didn't manage to accomplish it. (surprise surprise!) Maybe I shouldn't even bother to write up any resolutions.
But I
do hope that
everyone will have
true happiness &
joy around & about them!_________________________
