IfIf you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't act too good, nor talk overly wise;
If you can
dream- and not make dreams your master;
If you can think- and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with
Triumph and
DisasterAnd treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve, your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings- nor lose common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can
hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And- which is more- you'll be a man, my son!

Went for a little shopping after P.Invest.-choir-piano lesson today, and I was looking around almost the whole Orchard Road trying to find a decent birthday present (skirt) for my sis. And seeing how she just doesn't wear skirts, a change would be welcomed. Most unfortunately, the black mini-skirts I spotted were either too expensive ($46?!), too cheap-looking, too long, or too well,
frilly. I cannot imagine how people can wear them and walk on the street without seriously worrying about doing a Marilyn Monroe (in other words, exposing
everything).
I looked through almost every single piece of garment from
Topshop and
Forever21, which was a bad idea, because I somehow cannot envision my sis prancing around in a bright purple and neon orange halter. :x
I
finally bought a $15 pair of earrings for her and one for me from Forever21 which was totally worth it [
heehee]. Thank goodness. And they were pretty too! Problem is my mum just told me that grandma has already bought my sis earrings as well, and her earrings cost $30! Thankfully I still agree with the adage "it's the thought that counts" lol.
I'd best start practising the dance. If not, I'd definitely look like a dancing chicken without its head.

Thanks everyone, for making v. day special (: Specially to-
Tanneh: Your heart-shaped m&m brownies were divine! (I've finished all of them already teehee), and thanks so much for the balloon! So thoughtful.
Soomeh: Thankyew for the pweety note and the sweet-as-sugar sweets ;) I loved them!
Sooneh: Thanks for laughing like crap at the way my interview went. I gave
airhead a total new definition. And yes,
giggle giggle. :p I'm kidding.
Lunny: For your very warm hug.
Yi lyn: For being so
super great today, and for helping me so much, and so patiently too!
Happy Birthday!410 ers: For all the hugs and gifts. <3
Oh yes, and
Happy Burfdae to Yi lyn and

I finally got to go
Straits kitchen at Hyatt hotel! (: Mum saw it on tv when it was recommended by Sharon Au, and so we were dying to try the different food there, buffet-style. I ate about
8 pieces of prawns almost the size of my hand, and they were seriously sumptously sweet and juicy, it was amazing. The prawn mee was great, especially the prawn broth. And the coconut ice cream was a scoop of heaven on earth (: I had a really good time with my relatives..
Went to the library with kx on friday. At first it was real quiet because most students were still in school. Then the hoards of people came and level4 turned into a monkey cage with half-crazy monkey. I didn't get anything done, expect finish reading my book. Thanks kx for accompanying me!
Today I had this race against time. I ran down to ps to wish dear xiao yu a happy birthday, but she arrived too late so I had to leave my present with dee and gave them a hug to be passed on to xy. Before I forget:
Happy Birthday Xiao yu! Sweeeet16 forever. (: By the way, I hope your flu gets better sabby!
Then I cabbed all the way to marymount terrace for the tuition I didn't have, cos my tuition teacher couldn't make it at the last moment. -.- So I cabbed
all the way back for my chinese tuition, which lasted a total of 23 minutes. Basically, I accomplished
nothing.
My mum found this thick fur-rug thing, which looks like real bear fur or something. It's pathetic. I had this weird dream about a bear that is the same colour as the fur, and then it was chasing me like a mad bear (lol), and in my haste, I jumped off the building of my house. Usually that's the way my dreams/ nightmares always end- with me jumping off the mountain/ cliff/ building. Then somehow I'll force myself to wake up, in cold sweat no less. Mum always wonders why the need to jump off something, but I think when I get really scared of stuff chasing me, I always jump away.
Far away.

RI choral concert
Before sat's concert, I met sooneh and tanneh at junction8, and we rushed to sooneh's place to (as she called it)
primp (: Sooneh's house rocks. It's so big and artsy, with all those huge pictures of impressionistic settings (like in her room.) And then I drank jackpot. x) [inside joke]
So anyway we cabbed to VCH, and met all the other choir girls, all nicely dressed up too! And I met ny choristers kx, kim, kerr, miao qin, suet, lilin, and catherine! It was so so fantastic seeing them again!
Right, I HAVE to add this one in to clarify some
terrible misconceptions about if anyone has read soomeh's blog already. laughs During the intermission, I really
did think their little intermission-over alarm thing was to alert us that there was a fire. I mean,
come on. It wailed like an angry baby, and since when do intermission bells sound like that?! The esplanade's bell sure sounds better. So to those who think I am a weirdo and a serious blockhead, I tell you
nay. Soomeh is just being a meano. hahaha. (:
After the concert, I went backstage to say hi to
soh ee!! She's my Sop2 SL two years ago, and she's really talented. She looked so graceful in the rjc choral gown too. And so did bonkie. (: It was so cool seeing my old senior again! Too bad Siqi wasn't there though.
Went
esplanade with kaixuan, kerryn, kim, suet, cat and lilin after that. I shared this yummy haagen das midnight choc ice cream with kx, then we sat along the river and chatted for about an hour. And we threw our 5-cent change into the River! (
shh.) It started with me paying 5-cents more for the ice-cream, then kx insisted I accept her 5-cents, so I told her to throw it into the sea. (: Which was so fun (lol) I decided to take my own coin to throw. We had this whole ritual, complete with shaking it and blowing on it, making a wish, then throw! Kerr and lilin followed suit, so we have 4 5-cent coins at the bottom of the river now. (: and our wish? "Nygh and rgs choir syf GOLD". ;)
We stared at the
stars across the midnight-black sky. Kx pointed out part of the
Orion's Belt, which was so pretty..
How often do I actually have the time to stare up at the endless sky and appreciate the formation of the stars. Let's try 'never'. So how cool was it that my first star-gazing session was with all my great pals? It was great catching up with them. (:
I reached home at 12.30am, and Kx and I were desperately trying to take photos in the cab, but the driver kept talking to us about taxi safety and terrible female drivers etc. It was crazy. And the flash was so blinding. Every time we snapped a shot, we'll go ouch. (:
Dance & Hotel Rwanda
Today I stayed an hour to go through the dance with kelly and the girls again in school. Thanks Jac, Cat, Jia Jun, Michelle for coming down! (: Then me and kel went to catch
Hotel Rwanda. Kelly didn't cry at all! There I was trying to wipe away tears as fast as I could, and Kelly was yawning away. It was difficult not crunching my potato chips too loudly, especially during the silent sad moments. But the movie was
hauntingly deep. I really enjoyed it, but it was quite frustrating at times. I just felt like taking a machine gun and shooting all those sickening murderers. ):
My brother is in love with
Mulan. He's been watching the tape non-stop, and he laughs at all the funny places, so it sounds like a bad comedy, where the laugh track comes on at all the supposedly funny parts. Oh, and 3 of his teeth fell out, a sure sign that he's growing up!
My sis is a councilor in stc! So proud of her (:
