Tudor monarch Gush Alert:
I received an email (and a squealing one at that) about the new movie The Other Boleyn Girl, and I almost fell off my chair because that is just perfect. Natalie Portman (one of my almost favourites) and Scarlett Johansson (Johansson Johansson!!) AND Eric Bana. They got it all right, except maybe Johansson for Mary Boleyn may be a bit of a stretch.
After reading about the Stuarts and the Tudors and (naturally) scoffing at Henry the 8th, [one is inclined to believe that he was a cad, King or not], and cheering for Elizabeth I, this will be such an eye-opener (:
What I'll be potentially upset about may be the glorification of a man with a perchant for switching wives like socks, over the plight of Anne Boleyn, which I am almost certain will be glossed over like jelly on the table. She isn't very likeable, and Catherine of Aragon is to be pitied, but still.
If not for Anne, there would have been no Queen Elizabeth I, leaving the whole of England under Queen Mary (the horror, the madness, the bloodandgore). Not that Elizabeth was any less bloody, but she did lead the Protestant movement and the church of England, bless her heart.
Now that I've just warmed up to this, I didn't know Princess Diana was a descendent of Mary Boleyn :O I just thought she was a random sunday school teacher :x
Another laughable thing: I think there's something highly ironic about getting Jonathan Rhys Meyers to play Henry VIII in The Tudors. An Irish accent might be a little weird for a very English king. But never mind that.

Ok. (: I feel so happy and relaxed, and I can't wait!
